Can't Miss This!

When the homeless guy on the subway is wearing headphones that may or may not be plugged into anything and gesticulating like Madonna during a stadium show, you know it's Monday.

penWRITING ALOUD AT THE ADRIENNE THEATER
This series, which we mentioned during last year's run, is currently in its 9th season. Presented by InterAct Theatre Company, it brings the work of local writers to the attention of local actors and directors. Works once meant for paper alone are brought to life by these staged readings. Many find that words not necessarily written with live presentation in mind provide a surprisingly rich and engaging foundation for these professional actors to build upon with the nuances of their own craft. So writing nerds and theater geeks, unite!
WHO: Anyone!
WHERE: The Adrienne Theater, 20th and Sansom Streets (map)
WHEN: 7pm
HOW MUCH: $10 for InterAct subscribers, $15 for everyone else. Get 'em here.

MOVIE MONDAYS AT THE TROC: FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS
This drug-fueled mind bender follows the exploits of Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo in the famous Nevada city. This is one of those films that hopefully doesn't remind you of your youth, but if it does, you should go reminisce about the good old days tonight. Can you believe it's been 10 years since the movie was released in theaters? Terry Gilliam's take on Hunter S. Thompson's semi-semi-autobiographical tour-de-force is as incredible visually as the story itself is on paper. The film manages to include many of those scenes from the book that you were sure no one could ever do on screen. And what better way to watch this particular movie than with a nice cold beverage in your hand?
WHO: 21+
WHERE: Upstairs @ The Trocadero, 10th and Arch Streets (map)
WHEN: Doors at 6pm; Movie starts at 8pm
HOW MUCH: $3 to get in; but it goes toward a drink or a snack!

LET'S PLAY AT THE MANHATTAN ROOM
No, we're not asking you out. But the M Room's twice-monthly Let's Play event wouldn't be a bad date idea. DJs for dancing, board games if dancing bores you, movies from 8pm to 10pm, video games big-screen style, and drink specials. There's food available, too, just in case you get so caught up in the games and grog that you forget it's Monday night. Remember, drink responsibly and put that hand in the air and pay the cab fare if you get too McSloshed. This has been a safety message from your friendly neighborhood blog.
WHO: 21+
WHERE: The Manhattan Room (cool people call it the M Room...), 15 West Girard Avenue (map)
WHEN: Go after work.
HOW MUCH: No cover, drink specials. Don't forget emergency cab fare...
