We know how Philly men like to dress up in sequins, wigs and makeup (witness the Mummers Parade and recent St. Patty's Day shenanigans). Now here's a chance to do it for a good cause. Winter's a Drag, a celebration benefiting City of Hope, takes place on Saturday at the Bellevue. Once a private party, this annual event has blossomed into an open-to-the-public party marking the end of winter and its attendant cold weather.
Philadelphia’s Martha Graham Cracker will take the stage for a live performance sponsored by uwishunu.com, while local DJ and American Idol performer Salotta Tee will spin '80s classics and dance floor anthems. Food stations and numerous cash bars will be situated throughout the venue.
Costumes are not mandatory but are highly encouraged. Guys, that means you should think seriously about high heels and false eyelashes (are you man enough to pull it off?). And remember what they say down south: the higher the hair, the closer to god. Girls, we suggest you go high femme or campy: this is your excuse to wear those micro minis, feather boas and glittery eyeshadows—or bust out the suit and tie, your call.
