- A house fire in Upper Darby left eight people homeless Saturday. Cops suspected the fire was started by two people smoking crack, who were seen running from the burning house, one of them actually on fire. Police were pretty sure they'd found that guy when they came across James Radano, the top of his body covered in burns, hiding out at a nearby residence. Police also found there one Deborah Jeffries, who denied being at the fire, but smelled of soot and had black ash on her face. D'oh. Jeffries has been arrested and charged with drug offenses and eight counts of causing or risking a catastrophe and recklessly endangering another person. Once Radano gets out of the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, he'll be charged with similar offenses.
