Proofreading Philly tries to capture typos, wordos, and all other kinds of grammatical mistakes that we see around the city. But we need your help! Email photos to us from your computer or your phone, and show the city that you care about good grammar.

This error, submitted to us by reader Brian, isn't exactly in Philly. But, as Brian said: "The reporter doesn't know where that is, either."
You see, the entire story, featured on New York City's ABC affiliate, WABC, has three significant errors in it:
In the first place, fellas, we think the word you're looking for is "nabbed." Unless you caught your suspects sleeping in one of the beds at the Pottery Barn. Then sure.
Secondly, and this is a big one that most retail-loving New Yorkers know, The Palisades Center Mall is in New York, in more or less, if you're in Manhattan, the opposite direction from New Jersey. Sure, New Jersey has more malls per square mile than any other state, but that doesn't mean that every mall on the Eastern Seaboard is there.
Finally, we have to stick up a bit for our neighboring state. It gets a bad rap as far as crime goes, but it doesn't deserve to have other states' crimes attributed to it. (You hear that, Delaware? We're not claiming responsibility for your bookish bank robbers!) And so, WABC, you should be willing to accept your own state's crimes and not say that Clarkstown, in mostly-affluent Rockland County, New York, is in New Jersey. We know that New York City is the center of the world and all, but for the love of god, buy a map next time!
