Phillyist VIP: Margaux Fried

Margaux_Fried_3_12_2008.jpgThis week's Very Important Philadelphian is Margaux Fried. Margaux lives and works in Fishtown, where she makes books and jewelry for her company, The Black Spot Books.

How long have you lived in Philadelphia?
8 months.

What is your favorite place in the city?
A lovely backyard and an olde house.

What is the strangest thing that has happened to you in Philadelphia?
With the help of another, I am building a baby... It began shortly after my arrival in the city. This is strange.

If you could change one thing about the City of Philadelphia, what would it be?
One thing? I love the city, but here are a few things that bug me... People in motor vehicles seem to be entirely unaware of those on bicycles and the paths (though minimal and usually scattered with dead animals, broken glass, taxi cabs, delivery trucks, nails and other assorted rubbish) with little white paintings of sticks on bikes. So, make people more aware of bike paths and the people in them, end the casino talk entirely, and recycle.

Rocky Balboa or Benjamin Franklin?
Benjamin Franklin. I never saw Rocky. Ben invented water flippers and the grabber.
