Can't Miss This!

When we think about Tuesday, we probably don't consider its root in the Nordic god of war, but the fact is that Tuesday is as good a day for a warrior as any. It follows the beating Monday usually inflicts on us, and it precedes the fiery but all-too-distant hope that the hump day brings us. Yes, Tuesday, we hear your courageous call to arms, and we sigh forlornly at your heartbreaking distance from Friday.

golf ballTHE GLENLIVET CITY LINKS AT THE PACKARD BUILDING
Yes. It is apparently true. Indoor golf, of the non-mini variety. In fact, not only is it indoor and non-mini (though obviously not full-size, either), but it sports a club house and is actually only stopping in Philadelphia on tour. It is hardly surprising that a touring indoor golf course complete with clubhouse is somehow linked to a delicious whiskey that goes by the same name. It's open to the public during the lunch rush and admittance is on a donate-what-you-will basis, with all proceeds headed toward the cure for breast cancer. Not a bad reason to remind yourself why you never use those clubs you begged daddy for all those years ago.
WHO: Anyone can play, 21+ to savor the single-malt flavor.
WHERE: The Ground Floor of the Packard Building, 15th and Chestnut Streets (map)
WHEN: Open weekdays, from 11am to 2:30pm (get your lunchtime birdie on!), plus several evening events throughout its stay. The grand opening gets its golf on tonight from 7pm to 10pm, but the RSVP link at their web site is broken, so you're on your own.
HOW MUCH: Donate to breast cancer, fool.

25 YEARS OF CHIMAY IN THE USA AT MONK'S CAFE
Monk's Cafe was the first place to rock Chimay on tap. It all started 25 years ago, and it's going to keep going tonight, at the Belgian bar that started it all. Monk's is a more-than-respectable #14 on PW's 50 Best Bars list. Brewer Luc "Bobo" Van Mechelen will be on hand to answer questions and smirk begrudgingly at local drunks as they shout, "Chimay f#%*ing rules, man!" It's all a part of Beer Week. We hope it's such a good time that you can't remember how good a time it was!
WHO: 21+
WHERE: Monk's Cafe, 16th and Spruce Streets (map)
WHEN: From 6pm to 10pm
HOW MUCH: You gotta buy the beer, but the hangover is free!

DR. ALBERT C. BARNES: THE PHYSICIAN, THE COLLECTOR, AND THE COLLECTION
Yes, there is something to do tonight that doesn't involve alcohol. Barnes bequeathed his renowned art collection to the world. But those who know all about the art might be lacking in knowledge of the man behind the collection. The museum's Executive Director, Derek Gillman, and William S. Tasman, MD, Professor of Ophthalmology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, will present the story of a brilliant medical mind-turned-owner of one of the world's largest art collections. Did you know that he met the likes of Matisse and Picasso hanging out at his friend Gertrude Stein's house? And you thought your friends were creative.
WHO: Anyone!
WHERE: College of Physicians of Philadelphia, 19 S 22nd Street (map)
WHEN: 6:15pm; Complimentary reception follows program.
HOW MUCH: Free, but RSVP here.
