Ten Day Bender Commence!

As you all know, journalists love their booze. Just ask Hemingway. So it's only fitting that Jen Dionisio, an established local writer whose name you might recognize from the Metro or the Chestnut Hill Local, would make her first post on Phillyist one about beer. Bottoms up, Jen, and welcome aboard!

Philly Beer WeekPut down the Pabst, folks, Philly Beer Week has officially begun. Beer enthusiasts and general tipplers alike can treat their palates to city-wide specials on Philly's numerous local craft brews and imports.

With over 100 events scheduled, scanning the calendar can be a bit overwhelming. May we suggest this sample itinerary:

Sunday: Pick up a new hobby by attending Home Sweet Homebrew’s Sunday morning brewing workshop.

Tuesday: Share your new knowledge with the twenty brewers stationed for meet-and-greets all over town.

Wednesday: Blow your rent at Wednesday's Most Expensive Beers dinner at Monk’s Café, featuring tasty rare beers.

Thursday: Fight your budding tolerance at Tavern 17’s Extreme Beers night on Thursday, with high alcohol content beers on the sampling list.

Tonight, big spenders should head to The Marketplace at East Falls for bites and brews with Joe Sixpack, beer reporter for the Daily News. The rest of us will be bum-rushing ZoT for free drafts from 9-11—and preparing excuses for when next week we repeatedly call out sick from work.

Philly Beer Week
Fri, 3/7/08 - Sun, 3/16
