What's new and/or interesting on TV this week.

Philadelphia Athletics

Antiques Roadshow (Mon, 8PM-9PM, WHYY & WLVT)
First part of a three part series set in San Antonio, Texas. One of the items examined is a World Series program for the 1905 series between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Athletics.

Good Eats (Mon, 8PM-8:30PM, Food Network)
Our favorite cooking show takes a look at our favorite vegetable: broccoli!

History of the Joke (Mon, 9PM-11PM, History Channel)
Comedian Lewis Black hosts an exploration into what makes a great joke by taking a close look at examples from a whole host of famous comedians, including George Carlin, Robin Williams, Penn and Teller, Kathy Griffin, and Dave Attell. Sounds like a good time.

MythBusters (Wed, 9PM-10PM, Discovery Channel)
This time the group takes a look at the plausibility of various feats performed by MacGyver, including his great escapes, creating sodium bombs, picking locks, making a compass, and building an ultralight plane out of bamboo and duct tape. Sweet!

Ace of Cakes (Thu, 10:30PM-11PM, Food Network)
They're doing some really cool stuff this episode: a cake for Roger Moore's 80th birthday (holy crap, he's that old?!), a recreation of the bedroom scene from The Exorcist in cake form, and a cake made entirely out of Girl Scout Cookies.

Heath Ledger (Fri, 8PM-8:30PM, E!)
A tribute to the actor.

Roger Peckinpaugh, of the Washington Nationals, tagged out at home plate during a baseball game between Washington and the Philadelphia Athletics. From the Library of Congress collection, via pingnews.com, on Flickr
