The sweet scent of Friday is in the air, and as those without significant others recover from their hangovers and push their anti-couples bitterness back into the depths of their souls, let us all unite in giving thanks for another weekend. To whom shall we offer this thanks? Well, how about Mayor Michael "Here's My Budget" Nutter?

A WALK INTO THE SEA: DANNY WILLIAMS & THE WARHOL FACTORY (2007)
If you're an Andy Warhol fan, or a fan of alternative artistic sentiments in general, you should catch this screening tonight at the International House of Philadelphia (which we already mentioned briefly in CinePhillyist). First, A Walk Into The Sea, a 78-minute collection of video shot by filmmaker and Warhol-friend Danny Williams. Shot by Williams on 16mm film and found by his niece long after his death, the film includes interviews with the deceased artist's family, as well as with fellow members of the art collective that coalesced around Warhol's apartment in the '60s, dubbed "The Factory". It promises a unique glimpse into both Williams' world (the artist vanished in 1966 and was never found) and the art scene that came to define a generation. The film is followed by another of equal length, a silent piece featuring Warhol and other intimates of the collective, including legends The Velvet Underground. It will feature a live soundtrack by The Quavers.

Four singers perform solos, duets, and quartets, from various genres, regarding The Four Loves: affection, friendship, eros and charity. Based on the book by CS Lewis, this program sounds like a good way to get your weekly dose of (free) high art and take a break from that other singing event you slavishly follow. Held in a church, the performance promises excellent acoustics and plenty of seating (are we going to hell for that one?).
WHO: Anyone, except Satan. Lesser demons are advised to sit this one out, as well.
WHERE: Tenth Presbyterian Church, 17th and Spruce Streets (map)
WHEN: 7:30pm
HOW MUCH: Free!
MONSTER JAM AT THE WACHOVIA SPECTRUM
This is neither free, nor applicable to your weekly dose of high art. But watching a bunch of insanely massive vehicles annihilate one another in a giant dirt pit can be a lot fun. This one is especially well-received by men with longer hair on the back of their heads than the front, and young boys. Having said that, we've never been and we think you should try everything once. Except for, like, drugs and crime. Don't try those at all.
WHO: Anyone
WHERE: The Wachovia Center, 3601 South Broad Street (map)
WHEN: 7:30pm
HOW MUCH: $5 for kids, except for the Gold seats, where everyone pays $29. Everything except Gold is $24 for adults. Get 'em here.
