- Hey, it's Valentine's Day! Or, as we're going to call it from now on, Horny Werewolf Day! To celebrate the day, we offer you links to geeky valentines of the naughty, mean, and sweet varieties (via), as well as some super-nerdy comic book valentines from Chris Sims (definitely check out all of them, as the last one is seriously hilarious, and seriously wrong). Finally, Shiny Shiny has a video Valentine's Day geeky gift guide, and Cinematical has a holiday-appropriate list of seven sexy movie scenes that don't actually feature sex, complete with links to the actual video.
- The first trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is available for viewing now on the official site. It's pretty funny and exciting. We're pumped. For more Indy fun, check out three new pics from the film on this Italian site (via).
- Organic molecules have been detected on a planet outside our solar system for the first time. They're just methane molecules, and the planet in question is too close to its parent star for life to be a possibility, but still pretty cool. Scientists were able to make the analysis thanks to the fact that starlight is periodically filtered through the planet's atmosphere, where different chemicals absorb particular wavelengths. (Via)
- There's rumor going around that Al Pacino will have a brief cameo in Quantum of Solace as the head of the terrorist organization. Pacino as Bond villain! Awesome.
- Sad news: the release of the new Star Trek film has been pushed back from December this year all the way to May 8th of next year. Boo!
- The first official pic from Wolverine is... actually kind of boring. But anyway, there you go.
- If all the talk about that geeky Simpsons episode on Nerd World has gotten you curious about seeing it, rejoice! Nerd World has the entire thing embedded.
- Starbucks inked a deal with AT&T to get "free" WiFi in 7,000 of their stores. We put the quotes around "free" because you have to buy something with a Starbucks card to get two hours of internet, and after that it's $3.99 for every additional two hours. The unlimited monthly plan is $20, and if you're an AT&T customer you really do just get it for free.

- NBC just renewed Chuck and Heroes for the 2008-2009 season.
- Somebody has supposedly cracked a .bin file in one of the downloadable Rock Band song packs and discovered a song list for the game, including a large number of previously unannounced tracks.
- Good news! Knights of the Old Republic is back on a list of BioWare's ongoing projects.
- In honor of the holiday, how about a video of some filthy, filthy video game sex? Okay, it's not that filthy; there's just a little bit of nudity, and the rest is sounds and suggestions.
- NERF N-Strike for the Wii "will ship with a specially designed blaster controller, which will perform double-duty as a standard Wii gun peripheral, and as a functional, dart-firing NERF gun." Sweet.
- Jim Jarmusch's next movie, The Limits of Control, will star Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, and Gael Garcia Bernal. The film shoots this month in various Spanish cities.
- Sigh of relief: turns out that "suicidal" blogger was just engaged in an art project, and has decided to take the site down since so many people were taking it so seriously.
