The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

- Chicagoist has discovered that animals like Obama for president. There's even a Venn diagram explaining it all! (Remember to digg it if you like it.)
- Exciting news! Warren Ellis announced late yesterday that he's launching a free weekly webcomic starting February 15th at FreakAngels.com. The plot sounds suspiciously like that of Umbrella Chronicles, but whatever. The point is, Warren Ellis webcomic!!!
- A source told The Movie Blog that the WGA have agreed on a deal with producers and now it just needs to be voted on and ratified. We're actually a little unclear on how this news differs much from what we heard a day or so ago about the tentative contract agreement. But hopefully an official announcement is forthcoming about a real, final, ratified agreement that will put this all behind us.
- Holy crap. Taken looks awesome. Check out this trailer. Liam Neeson plays an ex-spy whose daughter gets kidnapped, so he uses all his many years of training to try to get her back, and to track down and eliminated the kidnappers. Sort of like Commando, but serious, realistic, and dramatic.
- And speaking of awesome trailers, check out this kick-ass one for the heist film Flawless, starring Michael Caine and Demi Moore.
- Starting in May, sellers on eBay will no longer have the ability to leave negative feedback for buyers. Wow, that's an interesting change.
- The results of the first research into the effects of handset radiation on different parts of the brain have been released, and the scientists "found no association between mobile phone use and cancer." Yay!
- Game|Life offers their first impressions of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, because the bastards already got their copy. They say it's incredibly fun. Bastards.

- Robert Englund may not get to be Freddy again, but apparently he'll be directing Christopher Lee in a gothic dark fantasy film adaptation of a Nikolai Gogol short story "The Vij," about "an evil genie who conditions the actions of a young priest, leading him to commit murder and fall in love with an old witch who is actually not what she seems." And that sounds way cooler than pretending to be the guy with the knives on his hand for the 300th time.
- Richard Kelly, the director responsible for the amazing Donnie Darko and the awful Southland Tales has just wrapped production on his third movie, an adaptation of a Richard Matheson short story called The Box. It "stars Cameron Diaz, James Marsden and Frank Langella in a story about a couple who receive a mysterious device that grants wishes--but at the cost of a human life." Sounds interesting... but then again, we thought Southland Tales sounded interesting, too...
- It turns out that the old story that men like video games more than women may be scientific fact.
- Scott Adams has come out with his predictions for the winners of the Republican and Democratic primaries, and furthermore his prediction for who will be the next President of the United States. And his arguments are pretty hard to dispute.
- Did we completely miss the news that Mark Wahlberg is going to star in a Max Payne movie? Or did we just forget? Anyway, word is the movie should start shooting in Toronto on March 2nd and finish up on May 9th. (Via)
- Joystiq takes a hard look at a disturbing trend: playing Guitar Hero with your feet. Included are links to many YouTube videos demonstrating this technique, naturally, as well as an embedded one that features a young woman playing two guitars at the same time with her feet. Good lord.
- Recently, during one library's annual "Patron Appreciation Day," attendees were allowed to avoid their overdue fines by donating non-perishables to a local soup kitchen - or playing a quick game of Dance Dance Revolution.
- AMC theaters around the country—including three in the greater Philadelphia area—will be screening all five Best Picture Oscar nominees in a row on Saturday, February 23rd, the day before the awards ceremony. Pay $30 and see them all! This Phillyist is a bit of a movie geek (if you couldn't tell) and used to try to see every Best Picture nominee before the Academy Awards, so this is pretty tempting. Unfortunately we're already planning on seeing a different movie that day. D'oh!
- Despite fears that star Heath Ledger's death might have ended the production, it looks like Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus really is going forward, as the official site went up yesterday. There's pretty much nothing there yet except "Coming Soon," but still.
- Supermodel Karolina Kurkova has been cast as Cover Girl in the upcoming G.I. Joe film. "Cover Girl was apparently featured in the comics and the cartoon, and the character was actually a former fashion model who joined the army when she found her former life to be unfulfilling." Yeah, whatever. The point is, if you click through, you'll find that Cinematical has a nice gallery of photos of Ms. Kurkova.
