- A federal lawsuit filed in December says that President Bush's housing czar, Alphonso Jackson, pressured the Philadelphia Housing Authority to transfer land worth $2 million to Kenny Gamble, a music producer turned developer, and retaliated when the agency would not knuckle under.
- "A breakthrough yesterday in the standoff between City Council and building-trades unions over minority participation will allow construction to proceed on the $700 million expansion of the Pennsylvania Convention Center." Mayor Nutter announced the formation of a 15-member commission to study the issue of minority inclusion and develop more concrete plans by September.
- "A caucus of Democratic ward leaders yesterday endorsed state Sen. Vince Fumo for re-election, but with enough abstentions and absentees to suggest that his grip on the party organization may be slipping."
- At a news conference in City Hall yesterday, Governor Rendell announced that he would ask lawmakers to put 200 more police officers on the street statewide - half of them in Philadelphia - by doubling the funding for patrol grants to $20 million a year.
- "Yesterday, authorities charged a West Chester woman with bilking her boss of $925,000 over nine years using four different methods of fraud."
