All Your Post Are Belong to Us

allyourpostarebelongtous.jpgWe already know you dig Phillyist. You're here, aren't you?

But do you like us enough to... write for us?

We're looking for a few good writers to add to the Phillyist staff, and we're hoping you might fit the bill. Interested candidates should be strong writers with strong opinions and a love for our fine city – even if there are some days when you don't love it all that much. A basic knowledge of HTML is preferred, but neophytes with talent will definitely be considered. You'd need to be able to write at least two posts per week for us, and the writers who contribute the most content each month may be eligible to receive a stipend.

We're especially interested in writers to cover the following areas, but feel free to pitch us your ideas, too:

  • Local internet coverage, like a weekly Craigslist round-up and a daily "Blogged Around Philly" post.
  • Additional news coverage, to supplement our morning "Yo, Philly in the News" post.
  • Profiles of local "celebrities:" bands, politicians, actors, or even the dancing traffic cop. (Hurry up on that one, though: he's retiring this month!) If you think they're interesting, give 'em their fifteen minutes!
  • Original video content. We run a daily video post, but we've never had videos exclusive to Phillyist, and we'd sure like it if one of you intrepid future Spielbergs wanted to hone your skills on our site.
  • We run a lot of regular features on the site, so having a graphic designer or two to create art for recurring posts or special features would be too, too exciting.
  • We can always use more fine and performing arts coverage. We especially want to increase the number of visual arts posts we run, but we can also use help in the theatre, music, and film departments.
  • Last but not least, Philly is a great sports town, and we want more in-depth sports coverage: play-by-plays, liveblogs, extensive analysis, and predictions of outcomes before a game's even been played.

Think you've got what it takes? Shoot us an email telling us what you're interested in, and attach a few writing samples (under 1500 words total, please) by February 29 (don't worry – we'll remind you). We don't have a limit on the number of writers we can take, and we'll be able to let you know right away if we like what we read.

We look forward to seeing your stuff!
