Tomorrow night, One Republic is playing The Trocadero. We've never heard of them, and outside of the song that automatically pops up on their MySpace page, we have no idea what their music sounds like.
So why are we previewing their show?
Because their opening act is Eric Hutchinson (MySpace) whom we fell in love with when we caught him co-headlining at the World Cafe Live with Philly's own Matt Duke. So much so, in fact, that Phillyist Ross called his album, Sounds Like This, his number three album of 2007.
So much has changed since then. Shortly after we caught Eric at the WCL, Perez Hilton lauded him on his infamous website, and Eric suddenly found himself with one of 2007's top ten most-downloaded albums on iTunes and three thousand MySpace friend requests in one day. This sudden surge in popularity is certainly deserved – you only have to see him perform live once to see why. So if you, unlike us, have a clue who One Republic is and you're going to tomorrow's show, be sure you get there on time for Eric's set. You won't be sorry.

Sorry, this show appears to be sold out, but it's the Troc, so there will probably be a few people trying to get rid of their tickets before the doors open
