- PATCO and SEPTA are thinking about working together to extend PATCO's service along Columbus Boulevard and perhaps to City Hall. The project would involve "reopening the long-closed Franklin Square station beneath Sixth and Race Streets to serve as the hub of the expanded service." This new service, however, would cost at least $1 billion, would thus require financial help, and would take eight to ten years to complete.
- Another wrinkle in the federal investigation into the activities of City Councilman Jack Kelly and his staff: the estranged wife of his chief of staff is providing information to authorities in the case.
- About 25 members of the local soccer fan club the Sons of Ben will travel to the Major League Soccer draft in Baltimore today to plead with officials to put a team in Philadelphia.
- "The five men accused of plotting an armed jihadist attack on Fort Dix are scheduled to appear in federal court in Camden this morning for a status conference."
- The Montgomery County commissioners are hoping that a soon-to-be-built $55 million movie- and television-production facility will help rejuvenate "tattered and seedy" Norristown.
- "A Philadelphia man is expected to be sentenced today for two daytime knifepoint rapes. In one, he posed as a police officer."

I like the idea of running a line up and down Columbus Ave. They already have track in certain parts, and it will help keep traffic down that will invariably become a nightmare due to the casinos.
I like the idea of reopening the Franklin Sq. station. That's exciting.
phillybits: It's exciting, but also kind of disappointing. I like going by the creepy abandoned station. I'm always hoping I might see a ghost or a zombie in there.
Lol, Jim. Ghosts, zombies....squatters, anarchists, you know...
I haven't taken PATCO in a while but the times I have and have caught that quick glimpse on the left coming back over the bridge, I like how it's preserved like a time capsule. Clean, no graffiti, etc.
I've searched many times for some good pictures of the station but have never found any. Any ideas?
Although I'm at work and can't check it to be sure, there might be a youtube video of the station. Do a google search for "PATCO franklin square station" and it's like the fifth link down.
Hmmm... not really. Maybe we should trick Phillyist Matt into sneaking down there with his camera...
Thanks for the tip, Bonzombiekitty. Easily found.
I've always wanted to descend into the bowels of the city via the tunnel system but seeing as how "9/11 changed everything", to do so these days would probably put me at far greater risk of being disappeared.
Another cool YouTube video ripped from a WHYY special.
Although I'd like to get down there, I don't see how I'm going to get tricked into doing it. Maybe peer-pressured!
It would be a great subject for The Necessity for Ruins.
