It's F'n Cold, We Need a Sun King

It got cold all of a sudden, didn't it? We had a nice little mild winter going—just like we'd asked for—for a little while. But suddenly, it's, well, winter in Philadelphia. And winter means one thing: frigid, freezing weather. So, appropriately, Y-Rock on XPN is bringing FREEZEtival 2008 to the Electric Factory tomorrow night.

When it comes to music that can get you feelin' warm and funky on a cold January night, not much can beat sexually-charged electro-indie rock. So it's only appropriate that FREEZEtival features Louis XIV (MySpace). We're a big fan of artists who aren't afraid to plant their tongues firmly in their cheeks and be unashamedly offensive, in a playful way. Louis XIV fits that bill perfectly. Hell, they got themselves banned in Alabama. (Apparently the First Amendment doesn't exist there.) That alone is good enough for us. They're sure to be playing tracks from their forthcoming album, Slick Dogs and Ponies, so the show should hold you over for the week and a half until it comes out.

Of course, FREEZEtival wouldn't give you any relief from the cold if it didn't give you some Hot Hot Heat (MySpace). Did we really just make that pun? Yes, we did. We're ashamed. We're going to go put on a dunce cap and sit in a corner.
