Yo, Philly in the News

- How did last night's debut of American Idol treat Philadelphia? The Inquirer has the analysis - and a horrifying picture.
- Two West Philadelphia High students were slashed during an argument on Monday, so a heavy police presence blanketed the area yesterday as students were dismissed for the day.
- A suspect on the city's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list, described as a "one-man army," and who had eluded authorities for over two years while running a large-scale drug operation in Southwest Philadelphia, was finally captured early yesterday morning, thanks to the combined efforts of several units of the Philadelphia Police Department, as well as the U.S. Marshal's Service.
- "Gov. Rendell delivered a warning to top legislators last evening that the slackening economy will mean a tough budget year in which spending will have to be restrained, but said he expected not to raise taxes." Nutter has similar news for city department and agency heads; they've been asked "to prepare plans for cutting up to 5 percent from their budgets in the fiscal year that begins July 1."
- A public forum will be held tomorrow at 6PM at the Academy of Natural Sciences about the possibility of starting a bike-sharing program in Philadelphia, based on a similar service launched last year in Paris.
- The FBI is questioning City Councilman Jack Kelly and members of his staff. It's not clear why at this point. Kelly says: "I think it's much ado about nothing, probably. I don't know what's going to come out of it. It may not be anything."

Couple bike sharing with dis-allowing the most polluting vehicles from entering the city and/or charging vehicles that enter the city during biz hours and we're on to something...
