- Japanese magazine Famitsu has given Super Smash Bros. Brawl a rare perfect 40/40 review score. Seems like a good sign!
- Yesterday was the latest big tech event, after CES: MacWorld 2008. Nerd World sums up the whole thing in one post, but Shiny Shiny has lots of coverage, including posts about upgrades to Apple TV and the official announcement of movie rentals on iTunes (which Download Squad and Cinematical were also talking about it), as well as the hottest, sexiest gadget revealed at the expo: the MacBook Air. - With CES over (although the occasional post still leaks out about it, like this one collecting all the neat Star Wars-themed gadgets) and the big announcements from MacWorld done with, what do we have to look forward to now? How about the Game Developers Conference? Microsoft will try to one-up Apple with their own keynote at the GDC, which they've promised will feature big news about the Xbox 360. Nintendo, meanwhile, has three sessions scheduled, one on Wii Fit, another on the Wii Menu, and the last one on Super Smash Bros. Brawl character creation.
- Check out this nice, big, juicy trailer for Doomsday, the next flick from Neil Marshall, director of The Descent. Looks like 28 Days Later plus Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. We can't wait!
- Keepers at a zoo in China are trying to make one of their chimps quit smoking. She got addicted by picking up cigarette butts discarded by visitors. And guess what her name is? Philly! Didn't she hear about the Philly smoking ban?! (Sorry, sorry.)
- A monkey in North Carolina made a robot in Japan move using only her brain. There is nothing about that sentence that is not completely awesome.
- A recent interview with director Chris Nolan reveals that his upcoming Dark Knight will be less about the Joker and more about Harvey Dent/Two Face.

- A 14-year-old electronics genius in the city of Lodz in Poland adapted a television remote control so it could change track points on the city's tram system. He switched tram tracks three times, causing chaos and derailing four vehicles. (Via Jason)
- As part of a deal signed earlier this week, ESPN will provide "exclusive streamed matches, pro player interviews, and scores and stats" for Major League Gaming, and in return MLG will hold ESPN co-branded gaming tournaments.
- Fans of Conan and gaming, keep your eyes and ears open in the coming weeks, as the developers of Age of Conan have revealed that there will be an open beta for the game.
- In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale flopped at the box office this past weekend, perhaps unsurprisingly - but Uwe Boll says it will be the last big budget flop we see from him for a while! Not because he's going to stop making them so badly, but because he's going to stop making them with such big budgets. Apparently "the German tax shelter fund that has bankrolled his films has been banned," so he has to raise money the old fashioned way from now on.
- Will Smith's son Jaden Smith will star in the upcoming remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still as the stepson of Jennifer Connelly's character, who makes first contact with Keanu Reeves' Klaatu.
- Courtney Love has been trying to get a Kurt Cobain biopic made for a while, but she just came out with her casting choices for the two lead roles: Ryan Gosling as Cobain and Scarlett Johansson as herself. Hey, pretty good picks there, Courtney!

- John Carpenter is suing horror film producer Irwin Yablans and distributor Compass International Pictures over revenues from the original Halloween, claiming that they have failed to provide quarterly accounting and payments since 2004.
