Whiz of the Web: Monday Meat Slices
The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment.

- While we were watching Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles last night (which, btw, was surprisingly good), we saw a cool Dell commercial with a kick-ass soundtrack, and a quick Google search turned up the video, and the important information that the awesome song is a new, original track from Devo! Sweet.
- Elijah Wood said some interesting things about the upcoming Hobbit movies in a recent interview with MTV. He suggests that the first movie will be The Hobbit in its entirety, and the second one will be an entirely new creation that would bridge the gap between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and thus might just feature him reprising his role as Frodo.
- Cinematical has the Golden Globe winners conveniently listed out for us, whilst The Movie Blog reveals that bad blood between NBC and the folks in charge of the Golden Globes has led to the ceremony being taken away from NBC. It will now be "an open event (like a real press conference) where any and all media outlets can attend and broadcast."
- It's not quite official, but nearly so: Liev Schreiber will play Sabertooth in the upcoming Wolverine spin-off X-Men movie. Cool!
- Toren Atkinson presents us with his Guide to Cinemagic, "a brief introduction to the finest, underrated, overlooked and sometimes obscure films the history of cinema has to offer."
- The fall-out from Gerstmann-gate continues! GameSpot's lead reviews editor Alex Navarro has given his notice.
- Chris Kohler of Game|Life provides an amusing retelling of what happened when he and a friend went to see In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale.
- There's still controversy and excitement coming out of the recently ended CES. Shiny Shiny talks about Gizmodo's TV turning off campaign during the show and whether it was really as awful as some people are making it out to be. Meanwhile, Nyko's wireless Wii Nunchuck controller won CNET's CES gaming award.
- Scientists grew a rat a new heart! Sort of. Anyway, the future practical applications are obvious and exciting.
- Netflix has removed its monthly time limits on the amount of online video its users can watch for all but the lowest pay level subscribers. Sweet!
- Some Zelda fans tried beating all four 3D Zelda titles in just 48 hours of straight gameplay this past weekend. They didn't succeed, but they made a good try of it, and raised a lot of cash for Child's Play. Great job! (Via)
- BioWare is making a Sonic the Hedgehog RPG for the Nintendo DS. Wha? It's called Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, and Joystiq has some details about it, and a link to some screenshots.
- Looking forward to Steve Jobs' upcoming Macworld keynote speech? Why not help him prepare for it? (Via)
- Okay, now they may have gone too far: a $100 peripheral called the Stage Kit has just been released for Rock Band that features a "fully synchronized light and smoke stage show."
- Some new pics from Righteous Kill have showed up online, and in case you really can't believe the cast is for real, one of them features a shot of Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and 50 Cent all standing in a room together (via). Another flick that has new photos online is Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus; check them out here (via).
- Cinematical still has a few more posts looking back at the films of 2007; the first is yet another list from one of their staff members of the best films of the year, and the other is a video that cleverly edits together footage from all the big dramas that came out last year.
- John Singleton really, really wants Woody Harrelson to play Murdock in his film adaptation of A-Team, and we are fully in support of that idea.
- We can think of a number of inappropriate jokes to make about this, but we're just going to shut our yaps and present it as-is: Gun Egg Fryers. (Via Sarah)
