UPDATE: Digg this, please!

Phillyist has always regarded the Ducks with a combination of annoyance (do they have to give everyone those damned whistles?) and fascination (it's a bus that goes in the water!), but mostly the former. But even at our most annoyed, we're not nearly as angry as Walt Sherman, creator of the new (and sometimes Proofreading Philly-worthy) Shut the Duck Up!, who writes on this new blog:
I wanted to start this site as a public forum for my campaign to reform the Ride the Ducks Tour in Philadelphia. The tour is noisy, obnoxious, polluting and quite simply a downright public nuisance. Help me Shut the Duck Up!
STDU (which is affiliated with Stop the Duck!, a site that is dedicated to ending Duck tours nationwide, in part by selling clever t-shirts) has posts about duck boat accidents in other cities, Walt's own protests across Philadelphia, why Philly sports fans don't like the Ducks, either, and newly-elected Mayor Michael Nutter, all for the purpose of trying to convince the reader to e-sign the Shut the Duck Up! petition, which asks, not for an end to the Ride the Ducks Tour company, but instead for a little common courtesy: lowering their PA systems when driving through residential neighborhoods or spending less time in residential neighborhoods and not encouraging their passengers to quack at passersby. While we may not love Walt's spelling of the past-tense form of "die," we can get behind his desire for respect from tourists.
