- Have you heard about a little thing called the Consumer Electronics Show? No? Well, don't worry, Shiny Shiny has the story so far, and Wired was liveblogging the Sony press conference, and the Bill Gates opening keynote speech. From Sony, we learn that a GPS receiver for the Sony PSP, already available in Japan, will be coming to America. Microsoft announced that British Telecom will be the first in the world to offer IPTV service through the Xbox 360. But the really cool stuff at Gates' speech was an amusing skit about Bill's dreams of being a musician, featuring Bono, and then a little rock-off wherein a Guitar Hero champion came on stage to play "Welcome to the Jungle" on Guitar Hero III, and Slash himself came on stage to play the song on a real guitar.
- Entertainment Weekly picks the 25 greatest sci-fi TV shows and movies in the past 25 years. They're mostly good selections, although we'll never understand why anybody likes Starship Troopers. (Via Ross)
- Word is New Line is at work on a new Nightmare on Elm Street movie, but it's not a prequel or any other version that was being considered before - all of that has been scrapped and they're back to square one.
- AICN claims a high-ranking mole has denied in no uncertain terms the rumors that Brandon Routh will not be back as Superman in the stand-alone series; Routh is still Warner's choice for Superman in the main films, and the only thing that's been decided for sure is that Justice League will not feature the actors from the other films.
- Speaking of Justice League, word is Weta will be designing the costumes for the movie for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash.
- Wow! Warner Bros. announced they'll be going Blu-Ray only in terms of HD formats. The news caused the HD DVD consortium to postpone their CES press conference so they could regroup.
- The National Society of Film Critics has picked There Will Be Blood as the best film of 2007.
- If you are a furry, this apparently real French commercial for Orangina will probably turn you on. If you are a sane human being, you may not be able to get through it without screaming aloud in horror. We warned you!
- Chris's Invincible Super-Blog announces the winner and runners-up to The 2007 30-Second Recap Contest.
- Neil Marshall's sci-fi killer virus movie Doomsday has a release date: March 14th.
- Newcomer Gemma Arterton will play a Bond girl in Bond 22, but the female lead has yet to be cast.
- An associate producer on the upcoming fourth Terminator film has disputed the rumor that the character of John Connor will have little to no role in the movie, as well as the rumor that Arnold Schwarzenegger might appear.
- Aww. Turns out the New York Times was mistaken when it reported that complete Nintendo DS games would soon be downloadable to the portable console via the Wii's internet connection.
- Two lists of pop culture Easter Eggs in World of Warcraft. (Via)
- Angry Alien has posted a list of the movies that they'll be posting 30-second, all-bunny reenactments of this year. Good stuff!
- There's a limited selection so far, but Amazon has a launched a software download section on its website where you can purchase software products and then immediately download them instead of having to wait for the box to arrive in the mail.
- Some college football players are training on "a custom-built college football simulator using the Madden and NCAA engines by EA Sports."
- According to weekly British tabloid The People, "Queen Elizabeth II has been on a Wii Sports bender ever since her grandson, Prince William, received Nintendo's console for Christmas." Even British royalty love the Wii!
