Brand New Day
After months of anticipation it has finally arrived: Inauguration Day. Not presidential, sadly; no, we have to endure that circus for another year yet. Today is the day Michael Nutter officially takes the reins as mayor and turns this city around, making it cleaner and safer (hopefully not in that order). Sadly if you don't have your tickets by now you will not be witnessing the event; the only public ticketed event, an "Inaugural Celebration" at the Navy Yard, has been sold out since last week, and the big swearing in at the Academy of Music is invite-only (note to Nutter: where's the Phillyist love?). We will be able to see him tomorrow though, when he opens City Hall up for a free public reception from 4-8PM (there's even promise of refreshments).
At this time of celebration, Phillyist asks the question that's been kicked around for months now: What is the most important issue for Nutter to address, like, yesterday? The crime rate seems an instinctual response, but right now Phillyist is leaning toward getting our public schools into shape - and fully funded. What do you think?

fund the schools and increase the horrid graduation rate and the crime rate will begin to fix itself.
Imagine if every school in the city could perform like Masterman!!
Right!
