Countdown to 2008: The Top 10 Items on Philadelphia's New Year's Wish List
Every weekday of December (except for December 25, that is), Phillyist will be counting down to 2008 with our highlights from the past year and our predictions for the next. If you have a list you'd like to submit, let us know!
10. Alycia Lane moving to New York City
'kay thanks, bye!
9. Less extreme weather
Give us a friggin' break, eh?
8. Trans fat in our cannoli
Please, don't take it away! We need it!
7. Not being the ugliest city anymore
Can't you see our inner beauty?
6. Casino issue resolved
We don't really care all that much whether they build the casinos or they don't; we just want them to make a decision so we don't have to hear about it anymore.
5. A sports championship - any kind of sports championship
C'mon! There's a little William Penn statue at the top of Comcast Center now. The curse should be over!
4. Stricter gun laws (but no stop-and-frisk, please)
We're okay with people in the rest of the state having the right to buy six machine guns a week if that's what they want to do, but can Philly at least have a few reasonable restrictions put in place? We really think it might help.
3. Less homelessness
It's a terrible problem that needs a solution.
2. Nutter living up to expectations
He doesn't have a brother named Milton, does he?
1. Brotherly love
How about living up to our name and getting a little peace around here?
