What's new and/or interesting on TV this week.
What Would Jesus Really Do? (Mon, 8PM-9PM, CNN) - A discussion of how Jesus might respond to various contemporary issues, like the war in Iraq, global warming, and the divide between rich and poor. Includes commentary from various "experts," including Jerry Falwell.
Christmas Specials (Mon, 8PM-9PM, ABC; Mon, 8PM-11PM, NBC; Mon, 8PM-10PM, AMC; Mon, 10PM-11:30PM, WHYY) - Some of these have already played this month, and we already mentioned them in this column at those times, but in case you were waiting to watch them on Christmas Eve, here you go! We've got How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the cartoon, somehow stretched out to a full hour), It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol (the pretty good version with George C. Scott), and A Christmas Carol (the really excellent version with Alastair Sim).
Monday Night Football: Broncos at Chargers (Mon, 8PM-11PM, ESPN) - Of course another, arguably better, way to waste away the hours on Christmas Eve night is... to watch professional football! Woo!!! Sure, it's not exactly the most exciting game of the season, but still.
Cowboys for Christmas (Tue, All day, AMC) - AMC has Westerns all day and all night on Christmas Day. Included are many classics of the genre, like Rio Bravo and The Searchers, so if you have to sit around with the family all day Tuesday, you can at least have some quality stuff on in the background.
Transformers Animated Special: Transform and Roll Out! (Wed, 8PM-9:30PM, Cartoon Network) - The story is familiar to any fan: a Cybertronian artifact of great interest to the Decepticons is found on Earth, so the Transformers end up spending some time there fighting over it. But hey, it's Transformers!
College Football Bowl Games (Wed, 7:30PM-10:30PM, ESPN; Thu, 8PM-11PM, ESPN; Fri, 8:30PM-11:30PM, ESPN; Sat, 8PM-11PM, ESPN; Sun, 8PM-11PM, ESPN) - Sadly, the football season is nearly over, but before it comes to a final end, we can look forward to a veritable orgy of play-offs and bowl games. This week we have the Motor City Bowl: Central Michigan vs. Purdue, the Holiday Bowl: Arizona State vs. Texas, the Emerald Bowl: Maryland vs. Oregon State, the Alamo Bowl: Penn State vs. Texas A&M, and the Independence Bowl: Alabama vs. Colorado.
