Alycia Lane Update: Misquoted Bitch?

The saga of CBS 3 anchorwoman Alycia Lane has gotten even stranger. The Daily News reports that her first call upon release from NYPD custody was to Governor Edward Rendell. A spokesman for the governor,Chuck Ardo, said to the paper that she did it to "make sure he knew her side of the story because he is an opinion-maker and runs around in influential circles." And "I think she knew better than to ask him to intervene." Ardo also made it clear that the governor's office was not going intervene in the case.

Lane will be on a bit of an extended vacation from KYW and co-anchor Larry Mendte will anchor solo for the rest of the month. It is also reported that she has been expunged from the station’s holiday special and station promos. Her status is a bit up in the air and since almost every television contract has some sort of morality clause, she may not be back on KYW again.

There is also a bit of controversy on as to whether the New York Post may have sweetened a quote by adding "bitch" to Lane's rant, making it seem even worse.

The criminal complaint has Lane “stating in substance” to Police Officer Bernadette Enchautegui: "I don't give a fuck who you are I am a reporter you fucking dyke," while the Post reported their source saying that Lane said: "I don't care that you're a cop - dyke bitch!"

So it seems that Lanee was accurately quoted in calling Officer Enchautegui a dyke, but not a "dyke bitch" as the Post reported. Not that the paper is a beacon of accuracy and truth, given the Page Six scandal earlier this year.

And what has to be the most funniest thing to come out of the whole mess is our video of the day - a report from WNBC that has reporter Rosanne Colletti reading out a bleeped version of Lane’s tyrade.
