The saga of CBS 3’s Alycia Lane continues. She has been divorced twice, appeared on Dr. Phil, was romantically linked to WCBS anchor Chris Wragge, and of course infamously sent bikini photos to a married man. All of this seemed to make her one of the darlings of the New York Post’s Page Six column of late.
So it is not a shock that she got into some trouble in New York, more specifically in the notorious club district of Chelsea early this Sunday morning when she allegedly punched a female New York City Police officer in the face at W. 17th Street and 9th Avenue.
It also isn’t a shock that the Post has the most detailed coverage of the story and made its front page. Apparently Lane was traveling in a taxi with her current boyfriend, Q102 DJ Chris Booker, when one of the other passengers got out and confronted three officers in an unmarked police car. The police officers got out of their car and identified themselves as Lane was taking photos. A female officer told her to step back when Lane allegedly said, "I don't care that you're a cop - dyke bitch!" Then she proceeded to punch the officer, who was treated at a hospital for a cut.
Lane pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of assaulting a police officer, was released and is awaiting an April 3rd hearing. Lane’s lawyer David Smith told the Post, "She was accosted by several individuals wearing plainclothes who violently grabbed her camera to prevent her from taking pictures of the altercation they were involved in." And that she "was shocked to learn that these people were police officers after the fact." He told the New York Daily News, "She absolutely didn't hit or make derogatory remarks to anyone. She was inside the taxi when the initial confrontation was going on."
A New York City Police Department source told the paper that, "She was in a cab, and the cab was behind an unmarked [police] car that was traveling slowly. She knew she was a cop."
Joanne Calabria, Vice President of Public Affairs for CBS Television Stations and spokesperson for KYW-TV told the AP the station was concerned about Lane and, "We are still trying to sort out exactly what happened."
We should also note that Lane’s bio is still up on the stations website for the moment.
