We've told you some ways to make the season brighter for local kids. Now here's an opportunity to help out an entire family in one go: Greater Philadelphia Cares is sponsoring Adopt-A-Family. They will match you with a local family in need and provide a wish list. You'll go out and gather some goodies, and drop it all off at a local agency, which will then get it all to the family in question. Easy-- and it addresses that need some of us have to shop (ahem).
Agencies throughout the region give the names and lists for families to GPC and are responsible for the distribution. GPC just got a whopping 200 additional families this week, and so they really could use your help. You can choose a family with anywhere from 2 to 7+ children, and the amount that you end up contributing is up to you (though do try to accomplish an equitable distribution of gifts if you can't swing the whole list). You can even get the office involved and adopt a family together. And if you're feeling particularly industrious, you or your organization can adopt an entire agency and provide gifts for all the families they serve.
To get involved simply fill out this form and fax (215-564-4543)/email over to GPC, or give them a call (215-564-4544) and let them know your info. They have everything ready to go, so they will get back to you quickly with your adopted family's details. Get in touch with them by next Wednesday so that they can rest easier knowing all the families they've pledged to help will have gifts under the tree this year, and so you have enough time to add on some names to your holiday shopping list. Santa (and GPC) will thank you for it.
