The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

- This is one of the most awesome news stories we've ever read: a ring of guerrilla restorers spent a year secretly fixing an antique clock inside the Pantheon, only revealing themselves and their work to officials when they were done. They were cleared on Friday of breaking in. They are totally our heroes now. (Via Mike V.)
- Wired takes a look at the original Futurama: a highly culturally influential ride at the 1939-1940 New York World's Fair. Fascinating.
- Wow, they are really running out of ideas for slasher movies. There's a film on the way now called Chain Letter, about a maniac who kills teens who fail to forward chain mail.
- The Movie Blog has found a plot summary for the next Mummy film, so if you're interested in just how they're going to transpose the series to Asia, read on.
- Billie Piper is coming back to reprise her role as Rose Tyler for three episodes in the fourth season of Doctor Who. Yay!
- Rumor is that the Star Trek MMO is being reshaped to appeal to a more casual audience. News which makes us want to say, "Boo!" Although we have to admit, we'd probably only have the time and patience to play it if it were geared to a casual audience.
- The Guide to Greener Electronics recently ranked manufacturers based on how they "clean up their products by eliminating hazardous substances" and "takeback and recycle their products responsibly once they become obsolete." Somehow, even though the ranking was based on a scale of 1 to 10, Nintendo scored a zero. That makes us really sad and disappointed. WTF, Nintendo? Microsoft, btw, scored a 2.7, and Sony had one of the highest scores: 7.3.
- Hey, turns out the PS3 is good for something after all: hacking!
- Wow. These photos from the simulated NYC set of Watchmen are so cool, they actually make us think the movie might not be completely awful (via). And while we're talking cool pics from highly anticipated upcoming movies, check out these from Indy 4.
- Topless girls showed up in an ad for EA's Need for Speed: ProStreet. EA's response was essentially, "Oops!" The ad only appeared in the UK tabloid The Sun's Page 3 section, and apparently "slipped through the proper EA approval process." You can see it in edited, but still probably not entirely safe for work, form here.
- Rumor is that the KITT that will appear in the Knight Rider TV movie pilot will be a Ford Mustang. (Via Jason)
- Sweeney Todd behind-the-scenes featurette! A little too much Burton-love for our taste (didn't you guys see Planet of the Apes?! Agh!), but still some interesting stuff.
- A German filmmaker is making a fantasy film set in India called The 13th Disciple, and it features the evil twin brother of Jesus. Brilliant!
- Got a little too excited after nailing a monster solo and busted your Rock Band guitar controller? Have no fear! A thoughtful player has posted instructions online for fixing the thing. (Via)
- The Movie Blog has put forward a logical argument defending their rather brilliant choice for the actor to play the next Ash in the Evil Dead remake: Nicholas "Xander Harris" Brendon.
- Could the next X-Men spin-off movie center around supervillain Juggernaut?
- This year's Bad Sex in Fiction award has been presented posthumously to Norman Mailer for "a passage in which a demon describes the moment Adolf is conceived" from his novel The Castle in the Forest. (Via Sarah)

Now What?

Some problems with the faux NYC Watchmen set:
1. That vintage of Chevrolet Malibu were never used as NYC Taxis. The fare sticker is also too modern.
2. The traffic signals and walk/dont walk signals are all wrong.
3. There appears to be a Hyundai Pony in this shot it is the sort of purple-red car. The Pony was never sold in the US.
4. There is nothing that even remotely looks like that in the vicinity of the 42 Street-Grand Central subway station.
It is supposed to be in an alternate universe, but still.
Well, I was looking at how closely it resembled the comic, not how closely it resembled the real New York. And, as you point out, it is an alternate universe.
