  • The Pennsylvania Turnpike has been closed in both directions between the Philadelphia and Willow Grove interchanges, and is likely to stay closed most of the morning, due to a fiery five-car accident earlier today involving a tractor trailer and a pickup truck. Thankfully, as of this writing, no fatalities have been reported.
  • The Fort Dix suspects are asking to be moved Special Housing Unit at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia due to the fact that they say they've been receiving harsh treatment there, and they've been denied the freedoms given to other prisoners.
  • Penn professor Rafael Robb pleaded guilty yesterday to the bludgeoning death of his wife, Ellen. He said he "just lost it."
  • Apparently over the next 20 to 30 years, Philadelphia can expect a steady increase in the population of ex-suburban empty nesters, who are coming to the city to have a second life as urban hipsters.
  • A five-year-old boy was shot in the buttocks early this morning inside his family's home in West Kensington. Apparently it was an accident, and the shooter was a family member. The boy is in stable condition at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
  • Departing Police Commissioner Sylvester M. Johnson points out that the commissioner's inability to choose his own staff is a terrible flaw in the system, but the policy might change soon.
