"Another Pennsylvania team, led by Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University, took the $2 million top prize."
- Governor Rendell, troubled by recent reports of a large growth in staffing and salaries, "yesterday urged City Controller Alan Butkovitz to immediately begin a comprehensive audit of the Philadelphia Parking Authority."
- Rendell also found time yesterday to announce his upcoming nomination of Temple University education specialist Heidi A. Ramirez to become the fifth member of the School Reform Commission. She would be the body's youngest member, at 33, and its first latina.
