We're Number... 47!

We're a little narcissistic. We have a Google News Alert set up to tell us anytime anyone mentions Phillyist on the internets. Usually, it's just a fleeting reference (like a "fleeting expletive," we suppose) to us on someone else's blog – quite often another -Ist blog.

So imagine our surprise last night while we were sitting on the sofa watching a backlogged episode of Ugly Betty on our DVR and GMail told us that we had a new Phillyist alert – from Bloggers Blog, a site that's never linked to us in the past.

Turns out Bloggers Blog was reporting on a new study from Carnegie Mellon that "used higher mathematics to answer the question: if you want to be informed about what the entire blogosphere is talking about, but you can only read 100 blogs (out of the millions available), which blogs should you read?" And, well, the News Alert popped up in our inbox because... wait for it...

Phillyist made the list!!!!

We're ranked at a strong #47, and we're in good company. Several other -Ists made the rankings. After the jump, check them out. And be sure to click through to the links – our brethren sites made it to the list for a reason!

-Ists in the top 100:
12. Gothamist
27. SFist
35. LAist
47. Phillyist (!!)
57. DCist
65. Bostonist
66. Seattlest
67. Austinist
93. Londonist
94. Shanghaiist
