We recently described Eric Hutchinson as sounding a little like a lot of other artists while still having his own unique place in today's music. Well tonight at the Electric Factory, we'll be checking out a band that we can say the same thing about: The Honorary Title. We got a hold of their Untouched & Intact EP and pretty quickly decided this was a band we might really be able to get into. Then we heard some more tracks from their recently-released second album, Scream & Light Up the Sky and we officially jumped on board.
So what's the sound? Mainstream indie. Yes, we know those words don't go together. But that's what we think of when we listen to the Honorary Title. Some artists you listen to and just think, "These guys really know how to write songs." The musicianship might not be virtuoso, but there's a structure and soul to the songs that really catches your attention. And that's what we get from the Honorary Title.
Which is why we're ducking out of First Friday a little early to go see them tonight. The Honorary Title is the primary support for Cartel. Also on the bill are Weatherbox and Langhorne-based alterna-prog rock group Days Away. We're excited about Days Away, and really pumped for The Honorary Title, so this show gets a full and enthusiastic endorsement.
