- An update on the Chester High School shooting: the victim was scheduled to be released yesterday from the hospital; the bullet went in and out of his leg and he didn't need surgery. Meanwhile, the suspect surrendered to detectives on Wednesday and was charged as an adult with attempted homicide and aggravated assault. The new principal of the school is trying to deal with the fallout, and change the perception of his school. Meanwhile, the Inquirer is following the aftermath of a few other shootings: that of the son of consumer advocate Lance Haver, and the one at Delaware State University (the accused student has a preliminary hearing today on charges of "attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony").
- The Inquirer has a very interesting article about the "gentrification frontier" in West Philly, which is apparently smack dab at 50th and Baltimore.
- The dredging of the Delaware River finished this week, but the controversy continues. The Palmyra Cove Nature Park in Burlington County was "saved," in so far as only about 20 acres of it are now covered with the muck pulled from the bottom of the river.
- The Kensington man convicted of killing and dismembering his apparently abusive father in July, 2005 was sentenced yesterday to 20 to 40 years in prison.
- A man chose the wrong place and the wrong time to try armed robbery when he entered the 7-Eleven at 2301 Passayunk Avenue in South Philly last night. The customer next to him was an on-duty narcotics officer who immediately took action when the man pulled a gun and demanded money. The would-be robber was shot and killed, and a bystander was wounded, treated, and released. The entire confrontation was recorded on videotape.
- If you didn't get a chance to see Bono get his medal yesterday, the Inquirer has the details. Apparently he was "sassy."
