The best of the internet, squirted out in flavorful neon globules, just for you.

- Sad news: a special effects technician working on Dark Knight has died after his 4x4 vehicle crashed into a tree during a dummy film run.
- Zack Snyder has posted a little video greeting describing what the first week of filming Watchmen has been like ("challenging" and "crazy," but also "great" and "amazing" - apparently everybody there loves the source material and is focused on making a cool movie). He also promises more videos in the future, possibly featuring behind the scenes stuff from the set. (Via)
- Hee hee hee. Watch some poor bastard die over and over again trying to master a level of Super Mario World that has been hacked to be ridiculously, incredibly difficult. Whoever designed that level is not your friend!! (Via)
- Now that Halo 3 is finally out, that doesn't mean we'll stop hearing about it - far from it! Nerd World apologizes for not blogging in an incredibly long entry about how great Halo 3 is. Mimoco is adding some snazzy Halo 3 USB drives to its Mimobot line of products. And how about an impressive Master Chief doll made entirely out of paper? Or a real picture of MIT's John P. Harvard statue wearing the Chief's helmet and sporting his assault rifle? Oh, and remember how we told you the limited edition packaging of the game could lead to scratched discs? Well, don't worry: Microsoft is offering replacements. Meanwhile, not everything said about Halo 3 has been positive, and Joystiq has taken all of those negative comments out of context and pasted them together into what may be the only existing bad review of the game.
- The Sex Pistols (well, all the living members, anyway) reunited to re-record some of their classic tracks for Guitar Hero III. Johnny Rotten said, "A bit of anarchy in a video game is alright by me." Nice.
- Joystiq calls bullshit on the story posted yesterday about the Chinese MMO requiring webcam proof of players' gender and banning men from playing as women.
- This is pretty hilarious: apparently there's a bug in Excel 2007 such that whenever you enter in an equation that should result in 65,535, you get 100,000 instead. Microsoft is aware of the problem and is developing a fix. Man. We thought if you could count on a computer to do anything right, it was math...
- Two middle school boys have been charged with felonies for allegedly groping two of their female classmates. They claim they were inspired to such acts by MySpace's "National Grab a Boob Day." In other words, they've blamed MySpace for their bad behavior. Great.
- Apparently there is actually such a product as a lightning detector. We're guessing if it goes off, you should drop what you're doing and run away as fast as you possibly can.
- We're kind of weirded out that we had to read this on a website based in the UK, but apparently a federal lawsuit was filed last week that says cable companies are screwing their subscribers by selling predetermined channel packages, and they should be forced to offer cable channels individually. We hope the suit succeeds, because that would be awesome. We'd drop the Golf Channel faster than you can say "waste of space."
- Apparently, director John McTiernan is looking at four months in prison for pleading guilty to lying to an FBI agent during the investigation into illegal activities by "Private Eye to the Stars" Anthony Pellicano. McTiernan will appeal, of course, so who knows if he'll actually end up going to jail.
- An upcoming film called The Human Factor will star Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela, and may also co-star Matt Damon, and be directed by Clint Eastwood. Impressive!
- More casting news for Punisher: War Zone - Dominic West will be playing Jigsaw, and Wayne Knight (AKA Newman) is in talks to play Microchip, the Punisher's sidekick. Heh. We like it!
- The Rock is up for two roles in the upcoming superhero movie, Shazam!, but apparently can't decide which one he wants more, so he's leaving it up to the fans. So, who do you think he should play: Captain Marvel or Black Adam? Really, we could see him in either part. (Via)
- Rumor has it that Rachel Weisz and Chloe Sevigny are both interested in the main female role in Terminator 4, which, we assume, would be the same character that Claire Danes played in the last movie. Meanwhile, a "high profile hunk" has supposedly already been cast as the male lead.
- The Simpsons strikes again! Here's a fun side-by-side comparison of movie references in the show and shots from the original movies (via). And here are the details on the upcoming DVD release of The Simpsons Movie.
- According to David Duchovny, X-Files 2 should start shooting this December.
- Here's a trailer for a pretty cool-looking thriller called Pathology - and look, there's Q at the end! Hooray for Q!
