What's new and/or interesting on TV this week.

The Big Bang Theory (Mon, 8:30PM-9PM, CBS) - It's the debut episode of a new show about a couple of nerdy genius physicists (played by Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons) who share an apartment and whose lives are disrupted when they meet their beautiful new neighbor (Kaley Cuoco). One of them inevitably falls in love with her on sight and subsequently - gasp! - entertains an illogical theory. We're not usually big fans of sitcoms, but this one has nerds, so it sounds like it might be fun to us.

Chuck (Mon, 8PM-9PM, NBC) - Hey, it's another new show with a nerd main character! We're sensing a theme here. This particular nerd (Zachary Levi) gets thrown suddenly into the world of espionage when he accidentally subliminally absorbs a whole boatload of government secrets. A super-hot super-spy (Yvonne Strahovski) shows up to protect him from the people who want the knowledge in his head. A hardened NSA agent (Adam Baldwin) also gets involved. This one's got comedy, action, espionage, thrills, suspense, and science fiction elements, not to mention the whole nerd angle, so we have to say we're kind of interested.

Heroes (Mon, 9PM-10PM, NBC) - It's the second season opener, people - heads up! You'll get to find out how Nathan, Peter, and Matt have made out after their face-off with Sylar, as well as meet some new threats to the heroes, and see Hiro meet his idol in feudal Japan.

Reaper (Tue, 9PM-10PM, The CW) - Hey, guess what? It's another new show! This one's about a slacker who ends up a reluctant bounty hunter for the devil (Ray Wise) when his parents accidentally sell his soul to Satan. What a great premise! In this first episode, he's looking for a pyromaniacal demon who escaped from hell and now needs to be sent back.

Bionic Woman (Wed, 9PM-10PM, NBC) - Woo hoo! Bionic Woman! It is, of course, a remake of the original '70s series, featuring a woman (Michelle Ryan) who gets bionic implants installed against her will when a car crash nearly kills her. But here's a fun twist: it turns out there's another bionic woman, the first test subject. She's a bit unstable, and shows up to attack our hero. The show also stars Miguel Ferrer and Katee Sackhoff (of Battlestar Galactica fame). Can't wait!

Moonlight (Fri, 9PM-10PM, CBS) - It's a vampire detective show! The vampire with a heart of gold is becoming as much a cliche as the hooker with the heart of gold, but we admit to still being fascinated by it. This first episode is about an investigation into a vampire-like murder that ends up bringing our main character into contact with a woman from his past, who is now an investigative reporter.

Doctor Who (Fri, 8PM-9PM, Sci-Fi) - The Master takes over the post of Prime Minister and Sharon Osbourne has a cameo. Sounds awesome.

Damn you, Jim, for reminding me that I probably don't have the means by which to record every show I want to see this season. My DVR only records two channels at a time!

Chuck was called Jake 2.0 when it was on UPN.
Moonlight was called Angel when it was on the WB.

I forgot to mention that Michelle Ryan was part of the ensemble cast of the iconic British soap EastEnders for a couple of years.
