Foodsday Tuesday: Take That, Fidel!

cuba_AC_15tastes_flyer.jpgAmericans might have a volatile relationship with Cuba, but we the people are becoming increasingly enchanted with the tastes of that small Communist island. Think about it: how many of your favorite hot spots serve up Mojitos in the summertime and black bean soup all winter?

Yeah, we thought so.

Taking advantage of the increase in popularity of Latin-Caribbean cuisine is Chef Guillermo Pernot, whom we were happy to see take the helm at Cuba Libre. Chef Pernot, in an effort to prove to you (and to us) that there's really more to Cuban food than rum and black beans (although they're important, too – and delicious), has conceived a special "15 Tastes of Cuba" menu so that "guests [may] experience Cuban cuisine in an approachable way, by tasting my favorite dishes that I have chosen for them."

Among these fifteen dishes will be familiar offerings like ceviche, empanadas, and flan, as well as still-traditional-but-less-common dishes like sugarcane-skewered shrimp, black bean hummus, and barbecued ribs. For the exceptionally reasonable price of $39, you'll get to taste all these things and more.

How do you say "yum!" in Spanish?
