The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment.

- Apparently in an attempt to destroy any hopes anyone might have had that the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still could be good, Twentieth Century Fox has cast Keanu Reeves as Klaatu. Gah!
- Perhaps you'll remember that Dark Horse is making movies now? Well, they're currently developing a sci-fi horror comedy called War Monkeys about "a janitor who, during a Christmas holiday, gets trapped in an underground research facility with military-trained Rhesus monkeys." Heh. Awesome.
- David Duchovny says he has, in fact, read the screenplay for the second X-Files movie, but for legal reasons he can't tell us anything about it at all.
- Despite what you may have heard, there will be no BioShock on the PS3.
- Game|Life and Joystiq had plenty of coverage of this past weekend's Penny Arcade Expo. There were riveting games of Jenga, a final challenge that involved playing some brand new levels of Halo 3 (video), an impressive exhibition hall (pics), a keynote speech by Wil Wheaton (audio), the inevitable cosplay (pic), and an oasis of retro gaming amidst all the newness.
- Joystiq got some overheard info from a GameStop management convention, including the news that they're considering upping the pre-order deposit to $10.
- iConcertCal sounds like a pretty cool and clever iTunes plug-in. It creates a calendar of upcoming album releases and concerts in your area based on the music you have in your iTunes library.
- John Williams didn't score the most recent two Harry Potter movies, but he's told a fan that he's hoping to come back to score the last one, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
- After many, many months of linking to Cinematical in this column and elsewhere on the site, it's exciting and almost surreal to see Cinematical linking to us.
- Some upsetting celebrity news: John Singleton, though apparently sober and obeying traffic laws, ended up running into a 57-year-old woman named Constance Russell, who later died from her injuries. No charges will be filed against Singleton. Meanwhile, Owen Wilson is in the hospital and recovering from an apparent suicide attempt.
- Perhaps the least necessary of all unnecessary remakes, Faces of Death, is apparently moving forward, with a story (yes, they're going for a narrative this time), a director, and a writer.
- Apparently Russell Crowe is going to have a cameo in Dark Knight, and Christian Bale himself is being listed as the source for this info, so we guess it's pretty official.
- The Canadians have geeky fan conventions, too, and The Movie Blog was on hand at one of them (the Toronto Fan Expo) and snapped a lot of photos. Here's day one, day two, and day three.
- Ooh! New, R-rated trailer for Aliens vs. Predator 2! Be aware that you'll need to watch an ad and go through an annoying age verification procedure to actually watch the video. (Via)
