
- Mayor Nu... Mayor-elect Nutt... Mayorial candidate Michael Nutter has proposed altering the city's approach to lobbying in Washington. Specifically, he would like to establish a lobbying office on the city's behalf, staffed by lobbyists employed by the city, rather than hiring outside firms to lobby for Philly (which is the way things have been done in the past). Will it matter? Maybe not, but file it in the list of things Nutter would do different than Mayor Street.
- As if too many drivers doesn't create enough gridlock, yesterday's traffic jam on 95 was caused by an injured hawk on the road. We're kind of surprised no drivers just blew over the thing thinking it was an oversized pigeon.
- Speaking of drivers in our fine city, a US Airways pilot made a wrong turn on the taxiway at Philadelphia International. But, like most bad Philly drivers, this pilot apparently isn't going to be kept from driving again anytime soon.
- Philly cheesesteak-inspired menu selections appear in a few places in the Restaurant & Institutions top 400 chain restaurant menus. Looking at the selections, we're more than a little appalled that these things try to pass themselves off as having any relation whatsoever to the real deal.
- And in today's News of the Duh, Philly weather sucks this time of year, and PECO is trotting out the same old energy-saving tips. But they secretly hope you just keep that air conditioning cranked up.
