A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets.

- Well, good old J.J. didn't give up much more information about Cloverfield at Comic-Con, except to say that it's a monster movie, and it's not called Monstrous. But at least a decent image of the poster has been released. Meanwhile, on the subject of the upcoming Star Trek film he's directing, J.J. finally made it official: Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto are both in the movie, both playing Spock at different ages, and they're trying to find a part for Shatner, too.
- Not only are they going to make late '60s vampire soap opera Dark Shadows into a movie, but they're also casting Johnny Depp to star. Brilliant!
- Woo hoo! Another exciting announcement from Comic-Con: Karen Allen is really officially back, reprising her role as Marion Ravenwood in Indy 4! We're not sure why, but that makes us ridiculously happy.
- Game|Life has a little peek at what Geometry Wars: Galaxies will be like for the Wii and DS.
- The all-star 3D motion capture film of Beowulf now has a website and a trailer (via). Hmm. Looks like they changed the story quite a bit, which doesn't please us. But they do appear to be covering the dragon part of the story, which hardly anybody ever mentions, so that's interesting. Anyway, when you're done checking those out, you can take a gander at the lengthy - and ridiculously violent and intense - trailer for the Beowulf video game, which should come out in November, in conjunction with the movie.
- It doesn't appear to be online yet, but there's at least a description of the Lost video game demo, which was shown at Comic-Con, over at Game|Life.
- You can find Game|Life's impressions of the Cartoon Network MMO, Fusion Fall, right over here. They played it at Comic-Con, of course. It's all about the Comic-Con these days!
- Comic books are continuing to take over popular culture. Now it looks like Dark Horse is going to be reviving old horror comics, as well as adapting them into movies.
- We didn't get a chance to watch this entire, very long, NES mash-up video, but what we did see was fun and amusing, so it gets a link!
- The winner of the next gen video game console war is officially... drum roll please... the PS2! Wha?! Yes, Nielsen says the most played game system in June was the PS2. Heh. That's funny.
- Those guys at MIT. What can't they do? Now they're combining the Wii remote and Second Life to create a realistic training simulator for everything from working in a power plant to doing pest control for Orkin.
- Here's a handy-sounding guide: Living the DRM-Free Life. (Via)
- Tim Blake Nelson has just been cast as The Leader in the upcoming film of The Incredible Hulk. Although we like the casting, we're a little upset that they're adding another major villain to the film (which already has Tim Roth as The Abomination). It's a perpetual flaw of comic book movies that they try to cover too much at once and end up not giving enough time to anything. But we'll see what happens...
