Rachael Yamagata, singer/songwriter, is headed to the Johnny Brenda's tonight. If you can't make it tonight, you can see her on Tuesday, July 24th or Tuesday, July 31st. Yep, that's right - she is playing three times in Philly, a short residency of sorts. Yamagata is known for her dark, raspy alto voice and being highlighted on numerous TV shows and movies. Recently, she contributed a song to Mandy Moore's new CD, Wild Hope.
On her MySpace blog, Yamagata says, "We'll be switching up the line ups, changing some old tunes, premiering some new ones and basically having a grand ole time getting back into the live show mode. I've always looked at residencies as a time to experiment and tell stories in an intimate setting so come on out. Great support acts will be joining us – all from the area. It will never be the same show twice so whether you are a fan of the full band rock show, the acoustic duos, strings, or just me on a piano – we'll do it all." Basically, this means you could go to all three shows and see a different set each night. Makes us wonder which one to pick! This Phillyist is going to try to make it to next Tuesday's performance, but please let us know if you catch any of the shows and tell us how they are.
