A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets.

- Now here's a holiday we can get behind: today is National French Fries Day! (Via Sarah)
- Local photographer Kyle Cassidy has an interesting book out called Armed America, which consists of photos of gun owners from across the United States, in their homes, displaying their collections, etc. There's no political statements being made; it's just a cultural exploration. The project is interesting, and so is this short documentary video about it. (Via)
- Time for your E3 update for today! Game|Life's coverage is extensive and fascinating. Some of the more interesting stuff: Battlestar Galactica, Harvey Birdman, the Wii Zapper, Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Soul Calibur Legends, Contra IV, and Rock Band. Also, more evidence that Sony is evil: that cheaper PS3 will be gone soon. Meanwhile, Joystiq is tearing it up at E3 as well, taking a look at LEGO Star Wars, The Simpsons, Wii Fit, and Hellboy.
- Hee hee. Check out these super geeky and obscure Doctor Who T-shirts. Love them! (Via)
- Blender takes a genre-by-genre look at some dubious lyrics. It's a list, and you know how we love lists.
- McSweeney's has found for you a very interesting document: a letter to Optimus Prime from his GEICO auto insurance agent. (Via)
- Website outside.in has an interesting blogmap feature. Hey, we can see our posts from here!
- Maybe you've been keeping up with the latest controversy about food imported from China. The short version is, it's poorly regulated. And turns out, it's not just the stuff they send to us: the filling of buns sold in one Beijing neighborhood turned out to be 60% cardboard. Mmm mmm! (Via Sarah)
- The Movie Blog has for you the 10 Hottest Female Character Parts. And they don't mean the body parts of the characters; they mean the characters themselves are hot. It's a pretty good list, although we might have included Myrna Loy as Nora Charles in The Thin Man. She's absolutely stunning in that movie. Also, we fell in lurve with Charlize Theron after seeing her in The Cider House Rules.
- Good news! Talented actor Andre Braugher just joined the cast of Sci Fi's miniseries re-adaptation of The Andromeda Strain.
- Smallville has its Supergirl, and it is Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort. Yeah, we'd never heard of her, either, so we did a trusty Google Image Search. Seems like a reasonable choice looks-wise, at least...
- It's new video time over at IndianaJones.com. This one is short, but vaguely thrilling, as we get to see Harrison Ford suiting up. Also, there's a shot of George Lucas hanging out with Ford and wearing a "Han Shot First" T-shirt, and that's something to see. (Via)
- It's official: the film adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's novel Choke will star Sam Rockwell and Anjelica Huston, and production is set to begin this week right over the bridge in New Jersey.
- Leonardo DiCaprio is in talks to play Hugh Hefner in his upcoming biopic. But... he doesn't look anything like the guy! (Sorry, we're kind of obsessed with Google Image Search today for some reason.)
- Cinematical has links to a number of fun Transformers auctions, for stuff like Bumblebee's license plate, the air freshener and disco ball from inside the car, costumes and accessories worn by the cast, and the Bumblebee car itself. The car's at $55,201 as of this writing, which isn't totally crazy for such a sweet vehicle, but the auction is restricted to pre-approved bidders only, so you're probably not going to be able to get it.
