No, we're not trying to co-opt Dan Gottlieb's new mantra, as interesting as we think it is. St. Joe's grad student Marisa McClellan is going around asking the same question of folks associated with the Reading Terminal Market, and recording the stories she gets on Stories From Reading Terminal Market.
This combines two things Phillyist loves: food (in the guise of really liking the Market) and the sometimes-maligned human interest story. There's nothing wrong with human-interest stories; if nothing else, they are often interesting. And Marisa's tales are that, including interviews with proprieters and long time shoppers (and a few short-timers), and some personal reflections on the Market and the project itself. We're particularly fond of Anna's story, mostly because we can hear the intonation with which her diet tips are delivered.
It doesn't hurt that many posts are accompanied by pictures of yummy fresh produce, and of counters and diverse wares that reflect the quirky nature of the multi-ethnic Market. We're hoping she heads over to Rick's to get his real thoughts on the current fiasco... but then, he's not been too shy about telling it. It would be interesting to read it through the even-toned filter of this blog, though.
