If you make it through the day without melting into the asphalt, you'll be able to catch the first night of the IFC Free Film Fest at the Schuylkill Banks. Offering three nights of free entertainment, the Fest includes Raising Arizona (tonight), The Princess Bride (Wednesday), and last but certainly not least, Napoleon Dynamite (Thursday).
In addition to the main event, the Media Lab Lounge will highlight the film and Indie culture of Philadelphia, with screenings of short works by local filmmakers throughout the night. Gates open at 6, and the movies begin at dusk. Blankets and picnic baskets are welcomed.
For this tour IFC has partnered with Kid Flicks, a non-profit dedicated to providing entertainment in the form of DVDs to children's hospitals throughout the country. Bring any G, PG, or PG-13 rated DVD with you, and it will be donated to a new entertainment library at Temple's Children's Hospital.
