The best of the internet, chopped into tiny bits and grilled for your enjoyment.

- Apropos of Something has declared today International Onomatopoeia Day! We would like to contribute with a great big healthy KRAKA-BA-DOOM!!!
- CNET blog parent.thesis is making a big deal out of the fact that you have to submit your Social Security number to activated your iPhone, but we're not too outraged or surprised by the news. Who doesn't want your SSN these days? (Via Jill)
- Watch in slow motion as Maxim does horrible things to a poor, unsuspecting old generation iPod. There is one NSFW word spoken aloud, so keep that in mind and use headphones, people!
- Blender has for you the 100 Days That Changed Music.
- Tee hee. For an even more fun list, check out Radar Online's 50 things you should never say (even ironically). (Via)
- Think you're a hardcore tattoo fan? Well, we bet you're not as hardcore as Adam "Tattoo Man" Kemp, the guy who now holds the world record for the longest tattoo session ever: 46 hours and 10 minutes. And we bet you're also not as hardcore as these guys, who got tattoos on their eyes to make them look more like the Fremen from Dune. Augh! DO NOT WANT. (Via Sarcasmom & EverMike)
- Those old Hostess ads in superhero comics were awesome - you know, in a ridiculously awful kind of way. In case you want to indulge in some nostalgia, or somehow missed seeing them entirely, you should definitely check out the amusing collection of them that someone recently posted at LJ community Scans Daily.
- Director Jon Favreau says he'll be having a little sneak preview of footage from Iron Man at the Comic-Con in San Diego later this month; we're hoping to find and post a link to a shaky, hand-held camera YouTube video of it shortly thereafter. Also, Favreau listed a few of the popular rumors about the film (that Sam Jackson and Hilary Swank are SHIELD agents in the movie, and that he has a cameo as a Vegas security guard) and revealed that one of them is true - but he didn't say which one. We're betting the latter. (Btw, more on what can be expected at the Comic-Con can be found here.)
- Supposedly the long-delayed sci-fi epic Southland Tales is finally nearing the end of post-production, a trailer is in the works, and a release date should be coming soon.
- Shiny Shiny has for us today 5 reasons why they love LOLcats - a list which includes many LOLcats images, of course.
- Sci Fi Wire has an interesting little article about how J.K. Rowling helped out behind the scenes on the latest film adaptation of her work, by explaining why a certain unnamed character couldn't be cut and had to be included in the movie for the upcoming seventh film to make sense (hmm...), and by providing the complete Black family tree.
- Sony was apparently lying when they said they weren't dropping the price of the PS3, because as of today the 60GB model is down to $500 (what a steal! Um, not). Meanwhile, they've also announced that in August they'll be putting out an 80GB model packaged with Motorstorm to sell at $600.
- The Talking Pictures blog at Chicago Tribune asked staffers to write about some of the movies they've walked out on, and posted the results for your amusement. We almost never walk out on movies, although we've done it once or twice during the Philadelphia Film Festival, and we wish we'd done it with Barry Lyndon (one of the films listed here). But Reservoir Dogs?! C'mon, that movie's awesome!! (Via)
- Gone Baby Gone seems like kind of a questionable title for a drama about a child being kidnapped, but the trailer makes it look pretty good. It's directed by Ben Affleck, of all people, and based on a novel by the guy who wrote Mystic River. It stars Casey Affleck (big surprise!), Ed Harris, and Morgan Freeman. (Via)
- Indy 4 car chase footage from the set! (Via) Not as exciting as you might hope, but still kind of cool. In other Indy 4 news, it's come out that the filmmakers won't be "cheating with CG (computer graphics) at all" in order to keep "the B movie feel." Call us crazy, but that sounds pretty exciting and refreshing to us.
- Cinematical has seven reasons why summer movies are dumb and keep getting dumber. We're part of the problem!
- Zak Penn is writing a remake of The Dirty Dozen which will be produced by Joel Silver. We can't say we're thrilled.

Across the Ist-a-Verse

Hmmmm. Those 100 days that changed music seem pretty randomn. No Tristan chord? No Le Sacre premier? Sid and Nancy? Trip hop?
I still don't understand how The Real World changed music-- I mean, what happened to Heather B? The last time I saw her was on the Ricki Lake show.
