What's new and/or interesting on TV this week.
Greek (Mon, 9PM-10PM, ABC Family) - So, what's the deal with the ABC Family channel, anyway? Their intention, as stated in the title of their network, would seem to be to broadcast programming that the entire family could enjoy. Why, then, do they persist in putting on shows like this one, which seem designed to be titillating and appeal to an older audience? Sure, it starts at 9PM on a school night. But still, it's about college, fraternities, and sororities! There's bound to be drinking and sex. Anyway, in this first episode, a geeky freshman ends up in fraternity rush at a prestigious university, while his sister, already a popular sorority girl on campus, tries to deal with her brother being around, and tries to land a new member in her sorority.
Spielberg on Spielberg (Mon, 8PM-9:30PM, TCM) - A new documentary by film critic Richard Schickel which features director Steven Spielberg discussing his films, as well as filmmaking and the movie business in general. Of course there will be plenty of clips from his movies. Few other filmmakers have made so many great movies, so this should be a ton of fun! (Also keep in mind that the documentary will be followed immediately by a screening of one of Spielberg's masterpieces, Jaws.)
Cities of the Underworld (Mon, 9PM-10PM, History Channel) - This week we're underground in Bucharest, Romania, looking through caves and dungeons for traces of the infamous 15th century prince Vlad Tepes Dracula.
Eureka (Tue, 9PM-10PM, Sci-Fi) - We never really got into this show about a hidden town where weird things happen, but if you did, you'll be excited to know that the second season is starting Tuesday night with this episode, which features a man inexplicably bursting into flames, and Carter and Deacon trying to re-acclimate themselves to the timeline that they restored at the end of last season.
Don't Forget the Lyrics! (Wed, 9:30PM-10PM, Fox) - A new game show, hosted by Wayne Brady, in which contestants must sing the missing lines of a popular song after the band has stopped playing. The top prize is $1 million.
Monk (Fri, 9PM-10PM, USA) - In the sixth season opener for this show about the obsessive compulsive detective, Monk must deal with his biggest fan, Marci, when she wins him in a charity auction and demands she investigate a case wherein her dog is accused of mauling a neighbor to death.
Psych (Fri, 10PM-11PM, USA) - Normally we wouldn't be interested in this show, but in this episode, Tim Curry plays a mean talent show judge who needs help when someone starts trying to kill him, and that's a funny idea.

You forgot NBC's karaoke show, The Singing Bee (Tuesday, 9:30 p.m., NBC). Fox always has their own slightly different version of these crappy fakeality shows and Wayne Brady hosting Fox's entry is not going to help. Like we really need more of them.
The most glaring thing missing however is what looks like one of the best things on for the next couple of weeks, which even as a Mets fan I will watch:
The Bronx is Burning (Monday, 10:00 p.m., ESPN) The first part of an eight part miniseries (airing Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m. from July 17 to August 28) based on Jonathan Mahler's bestselling book about 1977 in the city through the frame of the Yankees championship season, Ladies and Gentlemen, The Bronx is Burning. It stars Oliver Platt as George Steinbrenner and Daniel Sunjata as Reggie Jackson, and John Turturro as Billy Martin. As an added bonus it filmed mainly in the city. Hopefully it will be as good as the book
Thanks for sharing the shows you're interested in. I would like to point out, however, that I did not "forget" either of these shows. I saw them on the TV schedule; they just didn't happen to be interesting to me.
