Sad about Last Night's Canceled-But-Not-Really Fireworks?

UPDATE: Well, apparently the fireworks did go off last night, even though a lot of people missed them. So if only for that reason, here's a video clip from last year's.

WRONG! they ended up setting them off....for the 'tv audience"... i saw it on action news.... people were pissed.

Aw man! That is so disappointing! We heard they were canceled, so we went home!

I am pisssed beyond words at this. My fiance and I sat for well over an hour as the rain came down increasingly harder and harder. We were soaked and shivering, but announcements kept being made that the fireworks were going to be set off soon, and "Thanks for hanging in there with us," etc.

The news was on the big screen TVs that were set up around the Art Museum and at around 10:40 or so the anchors from ABC 6 announced that the fireworks were "officially cancelled." We were disappointed (and soaked to the skin) so we (and everyone else) left.

We were so frustrated to find out this morning that the fireworks were set off an hour after we left. When it's announed that something has been "officially cancelled" then that should be it! I'm still steaming.

The mayor's office said that "no one ever announced the fireworks were officially cancelled" but that was a complete lie; we were there and we heard.
