Yo, Philly in the News

  • As we're sure you already read somewhere (whether here, or elsewhere on the internet), Mayor Street sat in line for a while waiting for an iPhone, before he finally couldn't deal with the criticism anymore and had an aide stand in him for him while he went back to work. What you may not know, however, is that there's a video of him in line, getting some of that criticism firsthand, on YouTube (which, we suppose, you could watch on your iPhone, if you managed to get one). • The city's relatively new campaign finance laws are under attack on two fronts: briefs in the state Supreme Court, and consideration by the Legislature. Nutter will be doing his best to fight off both attacks and preserve the laws that (theoretically) helped him get the Democratic nomination for Mayor.
  • The word from "Heard in the Hall" is that Senator Hillary Clinton will be stopping by City Hall today to receive the endorsement of Mayor Street.
  • The Daily News takes a look at the city's flawed foster care system, and what one man - a scarred product of the system - is trying to do to fix it.
  • A deadly van crash caused the shut down of Route 309 in Lower Gwynedd Township this morning. The southbound lanes reopened around 6:30, after being closed for more than an hour, and as of this writing it sounds like the northbound lanes may still be closed.
  • This past weekend was a pretty big tourist weekend for Philadelphia, so the Inquirer took a bit of a poll to see what visitors thought of our fair city.
