Whiz of the Web: Friday Fried Onions

A steaming hot pile of our favorite things from around the internets.

  • The Manhunt 2 controversy continues. Now Take-Two says the game won't make its July ship date, and has been "temporarily suspended." Regardless, they're still standing behind it, and are throwing around grandiose phrases like "we believe in freedom of creative expression." Should be interesting to see what happens with this. Meanwhile, the Law and Order PC game has been pulled from shelves so that a reference to the actual 2003 murder of British two-year-old James Bulger, and a real CCTV image of the child, can be removed from the game. The decision to take the step was reached after the victim's mother found out and complained.
  • BioWare is going to make a Sonic the Hedgehog RPG for the DS. Um... that's crazy!! We've been in hate with Sonic since we wasted all that time beating that terrible Dreamcast game, but at the same time... RPG... by BioWare.... So torn!
  • More details about Blizzard's much anticipated game Starcraft II are coming out. Even better, if you're going to BlizzCon, you'll actually get to play the thing.
  • Ooh! Wii-exclusive hack and slash where you play a magical dragon! We're so there.
  • A spy claims that Cillian Murphy was on the set of The Dark Knight, and he wasn't just visiting for the fun of it: he was working. Which means the Scarecrow is back. We're not sure how to feel about this. On the one hand, we like that they're bringing back the character and the actor, but on the other hand, with films like this we're always afraid the story and characters will be short-shrifted if they try to fit too much in. We'll just have to wait and see how things turn out...
  • The trailer for Hitman will play with Die Hard 4. Yay! We love movies about hitmen.
  • Moviefone has for you the 25 Worst Sequels of All Time. It hurts our soul to see a Star Wars movie on this list, but it's hard not to admit they have a point. The rest of these just made us nod our head in silent agreement. Holy crap, Exorcist II was a bad movie, wasn't it? Oh, but Batman and Robin we kind of enjoy. It's so incredibly awful, it kind of goes around one side, comes out the other, and ends up being entertaining, in a painful kind of way. (Via)
  • Wizard's got a cool photo gallery from the New York Licensing Show, which includes pics of new posters for Incredible Hulk and Iron Man, amongst other exciting things. (Via)
  • Cinematical got the word from Warner Bros. that they'll be making some kind of exciting announcement about their plans for Blade Runner at the ComicCon. Hmmm...
  • This film adaptation of Wanted is sounding better all the time. It's about a bunch of supervillains who band together to take out the world's superheroes, and it now stars James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie, Common, Konstantin Khabensky of Night Watch, and Terence Stamp.
  • Rumor is the Shat is pissed at being left out of Star Trek XI, especially since it sounds like Leonard Nimoy did get a part. We're less pissed about the news and more vaguely sad, but still hopeful.
  • Cinematical has a non-story about Bruce Willis wildly speculating that Die Hard 5 will be a prequel. But they also have a link to a spot where you can watch the first 8 minutes of Die Hard 4, which is far more exciting (via).
  • Check out this shot of Harrison Ford from the set of Indy 4. Man, it's good to see him in the old duds again.
