Proofreading Philly tries to capture typos, wordos, and all other kinds of grammatical mistakes that we see around the city. But we need your help! Email photos to us from your computer or your phone, and show the city that you care about good grammar.
Reader AS, who has become a frequent source for Proofreading Philly, writes:
I must have walked by this one a hundred times and never noticed it before. And it must have been up there since the 50s! I'm not sure how I'd feel if my fuel-oil purveyor was "dosing" all the time AND never closing. Seems like a recipe for a real tragedy... I tried to look closer to see if that little thing near the end of the slogan is a copyright or trademark, but I can't tell.
We actually had to read this one out loud a couple of times before we could catch what AS was talking about, but as soon as we did, it made us giggle. Thanks for the submission!
