
- The first-ever national sudoku championship will be held right here in Philadelphia, October 19th through the 21st, at the Convention Center. As one might expect, Will Shortz will preside over the event.
- Late yesterday morning, a tanker truck overturned and spilled a bunch of home heating oil onto I-95, closing the southbound lanes in Delaware County for over four hours. I-95 was finally mostly clear of tie-ups by 4:30PM.
- There was a march against violence yesterday, from Lehigh Avenue in Kensington to City Hall, involving about 300 people. "The goal was to raise awareness about violence as summer, a time when homicides usually spike, approaches."
- Bob Brady gets to be mayor after all! That's the unofficial title for the chairman of the influential House Administration Committee, a position for which Brady was confirmed yesterday.
- Street says it's unlikely he'll veto the amended budget he'll be getting back from the City Council as early as this coming Thursday, despite the various changes they made to the spending plan. Speaking of the City Council, now that the election is over, it sounds like they just might crumble on the casino issue, and approve the SugarHouse in Fishtown.
- It's Memorial Day weekend, and that means the Jersey shore is gearing up for an influx of vacationers!
